MONDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2009

SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING

6:00 PM

 

1. CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Pro Tem Castro called the City of Hilshire Village Special Council Meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. at 8301 Westview, Houston, Texas 77055.

Invocation was given by Council Member Wolfe.

 

1.2. Present were, Mayor Pro Tem Connie Castro and Council Members Shannon Whiting, Cheryl Wolfe and Bill Bristow. Mayor Robin Border and Council Member Edward Davis were absent.

 

2. CITIZENS COMMENTS: NONE

 

3. DISCUSSION: NONE

 

4. ACTION ITEMS (CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON):

4.1 A motion was made by Council Member Whiting to approve the City’s Rollback Tax Rate for 2009 in the amount of $0.419256 for the purpose of funding the maintenance and operation expenditures of the City for the next fiscal year, seconded by Council Member Bristow. A vote was taken to approve the City’s Rollback Tax Rate for 2009 in the amount of $0.419256 for the purpose of funding the maintenance and operation expenditures of the City for the next fiscal year, the motion passed unanimously.

4.2 A motion was made by Council Member Whiting to approve the City’s Rollback Tax Rate for 2009 in the amount of $0.133390 for the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund for payment of the indebtness of the City for the next fiscal year, seconded by Council Member Bristow. A vote was taken to approve the City’s Rollback Tax Rate for 2009 in the amount of $0.133390 for the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund for payment of the indebtness of the City for the next fiscal year, the motion passed unanimously.

4.3 A motion was made by Council Member Wolfe to approve the property tax rate increase by the adoption of a tax rate of 0.552646, which is effectively a 5.69 percent increase in the tax rate, seconded by Council Member Bristow. A vote was taken to approve the property tax rate increase by the adoption of a tax rate of 0.552646, which is effectively a 5.69 percent increase in the tax rate, the motion passed unanimously.

8. Adjournment: Council Member Whiting made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Council Member Bristow. The meeting was adjourned at 6:07 PM.
